Kate Fowler
Kate Elizabeth Fowler is a photographer & educator from Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Photography & Filmmaking and has since directed arts-based programming educational programming in Richmond, NYC, Europe and Whitesburg, Kentucky. Kate has worked for the Magnum Foundation, leading their Photography Expanded initiative, and at Appalshop as Director of their Appalachian Media Institute. She currently works at Studio Two Three, a community arts space and print shop in Richmond, Virginia.
Luis Vasquez La roche
Vasquez La Roche is an Afro-Trinidadian-Venezuelan interdisciplinary artist and scholar whose work materializes across performance, installation, video, sound, sculpture, and painting. Their practice is grounded in Orisha traditions, ritual, carnival, the power of oral history, personal and historical memory, and the tangible and intangible legacies passed down through generations.
Patricia Nguyen
Patricia Nguyen is an artist, educator, and scholar born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Nguyen earned her Ph.D. in Performance Studies at Northwestern University and currently an assistant professor in American Studies at the University of Virginia. She is also a Paul and Daisy Soros Fellow for New Americans. Her research and performance work examines critical refugee studies, political economy, forced migration, oral histories, inherited trauma, torture, and nation building in the United States and Vietnam.
Joumana Altallal
Joumana Altallal is an Iraqi-Lebanese writer who grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. She received her BA from the University of Virginia and her MFA in poetry at the University of Michigan’s Helen Zell Writers’ Program.
