5000

Hampton Boyer

March 6 - May 16, 2026

Opening Reception: March 6, 6-8PM

"5000 is a new body of work by Hampton Boyer that utilizes escapism and history to create a new world and hero for black liberation. It is the first installment of an afrofuturistic trilogy he has been receiving and writing for since 2022. This exhibition follows the protagonist Rolyn, as he discovers his place of the universe was ordained for greatness even as he faces the monstrosities of the Antebellum Period. Pulling influences from artists depicting stories, such as Jacob Lawerence, Bill Traylor, and Faith Ringgold, Boyer finds new ways of expression through conceptual mark making, ink drawings, small paintings and prints. "
